What can we offer you?

You’re about to become a Fresher and you’ll more than likely be leaving home for the first time to fend for yourself. Never fear, Derwent are here! We will take the stress away from finding your new home so you have more time to focus on the more important things, like making new friends, exploring your new city and getting well and truly stuck into University life.

We have active social events calendars at all of our student accommodation, offering great opportunities to meet new people throughout the year and make those Fresher (and not so fresher) memories. Some of our newer buildings also offer on-site gyms, cinema rooms, study rooms and even a communal kitchen theatre designed for group cooking tutorials and presentations. All accommodation has dedicated on-site teams to help you with any general concerns or enquiries and we also offer CCTV and security and of course those all-important laundry facilities!

En-Suite vs Studio?

If you’re keen to make friends and socialise in your first year, an en-suite may be ideal for you. You’ll have the comfort of your own room with a desk area and private shower room but share a kitchen lounge area with a number of other students within your cluster flat. If you’d prefer to have your own space with private shower room and kitchen facilities, then a studio is definitely for you. All students at Derwent Students’ accommodation have access to all communal spaces, so no matter which room type you choose to stay in, there is always a way of meeting and getting together with others staying with us.

What will you need?

We try to include the essentials in your accommodation so all you really need to bring is yourself, your parents to wave you goodbye and your largest suitcase. All rooms include a bed, mattress, storage, desk space and chair and many of our studios also include a mop and bucket too! We partner with UniKitOut, so you can buy bedroom and/or kitchen packs which will be delivered to your room, ready for when you’re arriving. These packs include items such as cooking utensils, towels, and bed sheets.

Why should you choose Derwent?

Firstly, all of your bills are included in your rent, so you won’t get any nasty surprises during your stay and can spend more time concentrating on studying and having a good time. You’ll also get fast free Wi-Fi so you have no excuses to not Skype home or catch up on the latest episode of your favourite TV series. All rooms come with free contents insurance through Endsleigh Insurance so you can have full confidence that all your gadgets are safe. Your safety is a top priority for us, so Derwent buildings also have secure entry and CCTV. And last but not least, our focus is to ensure that you have the best experience you can. That’s why we have dedicated on-site management teams, maintenance teams and regular social events, all on hand to ensure that your stay with us runs as smooth as possible, giving you more time to enjoy your University experience.

Our locations

We know that the location of University accommodation is one of the most important things to our students. Luckily, all of our buildings are in great locations, so it’s easy for you to get to university by either walking or catching the bus or tram, as well as close to the local shops and entertainment. Discounted travel is available for students on public transport in many of our cities too, even better!

With our huge range of student accommodation with fantastic facilities and perfect locations, you’re bound to find something that will suit you and your new venture into University life.
