Loughborough
Loughborough – or “Lufbra” as it’s known locally - boasts a university with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research, strong links with industry and unrivalled sporting achievement.
In fact, Loughborough University was awarded the University of the Year title in the 2008/2009 Sunday Times University Guide. Sport is high on the agenda, with many of the Great British Olympic team training at the university, including marathon woman herself – Paula Radcliffe.
And there’s plenty going on in Loughborough itself. At the centre of Loughborough’s shopping area is Market Place, home to one of the finest street markets in the country with an excellent range of goods and produce.
Head to The Rushes, Loughborough’s main shopping centre, to find large stores including Marks and Spencer and TK Maxx or visit nearby Churchgate, home to a range of smaller boutiques and alternative shops.
With a lively student community and an abundance of student-friendly bars to go to go at, Loughborough is a great place for a night out too.
