What is the current student finance package?

The student finance package consists of Student Loans for Tuition Fees (paid direct to the University) and Student Loans for living costs including accommodation.  Non-repayable support in the form of a Maintenance Grant, along with University & College Bursaries are available on application.

If you have a disability, mental health condition or specific learning difficulty, or if you are a student with children or adult dependants, you could also be eligible for additional help that doesn’t have to be repaid.

The following details shown below are for students whom are studying at the University of Nottingham.

Students joining The University of Nottingham as a full-time, first-year UK undergraduate student in September 2011 will be charged an annual tuition fee of £3,375.

2012/13 tuition fees

The University of Nottingham has announced plans to set undergraduate fees for full-time home* and EU students at £9,000 from 2012. 

Please note: fees do not have to be paid upfront and the University is providing a generous package of bursaries to support home students from lower-income families. 

Core Bursaries

For students entering in 2011/12 

  • £1,130 per annum to students with residual household income up to £36,100
  • £845 per annum to students with residual household income up to £37,200
  • £565 per annum to students with for residual household income up to £45,700
  • £285 per annum to students with for residual household income up to £46,700
  • Assessment forms (PN1 or PR1) are needed for core bursaries.

 Students may be eligible for additional bursaries worth up to £1,130 a year if they; 

  • Are care leavers and meet certain criteria, or
  • Are entering with a vocational or access qualification, or
  • Have dependants and household income below £46,700  
  • Application forms are needed for additional bursaries  

Living costs

The following table lists the main costs a full-time first-year undergraduate is likely to meet. These figures are based on a student living in a hall of residence and receiving three meals a day there during the 31 weeks of term time.

University Core Bursaries 

At least a third of our students are likely to be eligible for our Core Bursary, which offers up to £3,000 for each year of undergraduate study.

 Bursaries of between £750 - £3,000 are being offered to undergraduate students who commenced their course in September 2012 and are liable for the £9,000 tuition fee.

 To be eligible you must:

 Be registered on a first undergraduate degree course at Nottingham.

Have UK home status for funding purposes.

Be liable for the tuition fee of £9,000 in 2012-13.

Have had a full financial assessment carried out by Student Finance.

Have a residual household income between £0-£42,600 as assessed by Student Finance.
