Faq at The Trigon

How much is the rent a week?
Rent is just £93.50 per week; this includes gas, electricity water bills and broadband usage throughout your contract*

*One of connection fee of £50 and then broadband free for full term of contract.

Is there a deposit to pay, is this refundable?
There is a £250 deposit to pay to secure your room; this is refundable at the end of the academic year as long as there is no damage.

Are there any booking fees to pay? And do I have to pay them if I am returning to my room?
There are NO booking fees to pay.

How long is the contract and when does it start?
It is a 44 week contract starting on 17th September 2011 and ending on 22rd July 2012.

When can I move in?
You can move in from 17th September 2010. Unless the University has advised you that you start your course before this date, You will need to contact us and provide proof of your course start dates.

Where do I collect my keys from?
You can collect your keys from the reception of The Trigon, you will need to bring photo Proof of ID for example, driving license/passport and your printed key release form from SHUstart.  You can book your arrival slot between 10am and 4pm on either Saturday 17th September or Sunday 18th September on the SHUstart site which you must complete

What is SHUstart?
This is a programme which is developed by the university for all their students going into accommodation. You must work your way through the modules which make clear your commitments in order to print off your Key Release Form. You will need your Key Release Form to collect your keys.

Can my friends collect my keys?
Friends can collect keys but they will need a letter from yourself confirming that you give them permission to collect your keys and you must have arranged with the Site Staff – your friend will need to bring photo Proof of ID.  Keys will NOT be issued if there is any outstanding paperwork or payments due.

Where is the accommodation situated?
The accommodation is situated just within Sheffield city centre and is a 5 minute walk to Sheffield Hallam University, the train station, the bus station and the tram. It is a 15 walk to Collegiate Campus.

Do I get a reduction if I pay my accommodation fees in full?
Yes if you decide to pay your accommodation fees in full you will receive £175 discount.

Does The Trigon have internet access, if so how much?
Yes!  You get internet access included in your weekly rent charge, there is a one off connection charge of £50.  You are also able to upgrade to different packages and you can also connect to receive IPTV for a small additional weekly charge. For a £10 charge you can choose to have your files automatically saved off site in case of breakdown or loss of your laptop.

Do I need a guarantor?
Yes we do ask that all students have a guarantor, they need to be UK based and  in full time employment or own their own house.

Will I need to apply for a TV Licence?
If you intend to watch the television then you will require a TV licence – you will need to contact the TV licence company to apply for one at www.tvlicensing.co.uk.

I’ve heard that I don’t need to pay for Council Tax how do I go about this?
All students are exempt from paying Council Tax, to apply you will need to contact Sheffield City Council on 0114 272 6444.

What is the full postal address and postcode for The Trigon?
The Trigon reception is at 193 Shoreham Street, Sheffield, S1 4RA, however your address may vary dependant on which flat you have been allocated.

Where will my post be delivered to?
Post will be delivered to The Trigon reception Mon – Fri the staff will then deliver to the boxes which are inside the entrance to each block.

What if I am expecting a parcel?
You must call into reception and fill in a parcel slip, the staff will then sign for your parcel on your behalf and retain it in reception until you come to collect it. The slip will be placed in your post box to alert you to the fact that your parcel has arrived. You will be required to show ID, present the slip and sign for the parcel.

Is there parking on site?
Unfortunately there are no parking spaces on site.

Will my room be en suite?
Yes all the rooms are en suite.

What should I bring?
You will need to bring your own bed linen, including duvet and pillow, also basics such as saucepans, cooking dishes, plates, bowls, cutlery and crockery, towels and tea-towels.

Is there a laundry on site?
Yes there is a laundry on site.
