Faq at Trinity Square

How much is the rent a week?
For ‘12/13` the rent is £110 per week for an en-suite bedroom and £135 per week for a studio; this includes electricity and water bills.  Rent is due in 3 instalments – September (before the 22nd September 2012), January and April.

How can I pay my rent?
Payments can be made by Direct Debit, Debit/Credit Card, Cheque or cash. 

Payments by Debit/Credit Card, Cheque or Cash are accepted at the Site Office and at Head Office.  

“Every time you use your credit card on our website, the credit card company charges Derwent Living a fee. Unfortunately this means we have to raise a surcharge of 1.5% to cover the cost, This surcharge will be added to your deposit and accommodation costs at the time of payment. If you wish to avoid the surcharge then please use a debit card.

The additional 1.5% surcharge will be added to all rent and deposit payments made from mid August 2011”

DISCOUNT FOR FULL YEAR PAYMENT BY 31st OCTOBER 2012 IS £175.

Is there a deposit to pay, is this refundable?
There is a £250 deposit to pay to secure your room; this is refundable at the end of the academic year as long as there is no damage.  Payment of the deposit secures the booking of the room.

Are there any booking fees to pay?
No we don’t charge a booking fee.

How long is the contract and when does it start?
There are 2 contracts for this site, the shared flats are 46 weeks and the studios are for 51 weeks.  Both start on 22nd September 2012.

What if I get into arrears? 
If the rent account should fall into arrears a reminder letter will be sent from the Scheme Manager.  If there is still no payment it is passed to Robin Marston in Debt Recovery who will issue further letters and if necessary proceed to court action.  Robin is happy to speak to students regarding rent.

I have registered on-line – what happens now?
When an application is first registered the status will show as submitted.

If successful a room will be allocated and an offer will be made by email within 10 working days. Status now shows as offer.

Student now has 10 days to accept the offer and make an on-line booking fee and deposit payment. This may take 2 / 3 days to update but status will then show awaiting guarantor.

Guarantor paperwork will be sent out by post within 10 working days – this includes guarantor ID forms, residency forms and direct debit forms. These should all be returned within another 10 working days.

When all paperwork is received the status will change to accepted.

1st instalment is due early September either by cheque, cash,card or bankers draft. Direct debit is not accepted for the 1st instalment.

When can I move in?
You can move in from 22nd September 2012. 

Where do I collect my keys from?
You can collect your keys from the office on site; you will need to bring photo Proof of ID for example, driving license/passport.  There will be an intake weekend on Saturday 22nd September and Sunday 23rd September opening hours 10am - 4pm.

Can my friends collect my keys?
Friends can collect keys but they will need a letter from yourself confirming that you give them permission to collect your keys – they will need to bring photo Proof of ID.  Keys will NOT be issued if there is any outstanding paperwork or payments due.

Where is the accommodation situated?
The accommodation is situated in Nottingham City Centre, 2 minutes from Trent University city campus.

What if I don’t like my allocated flat and want to transfer?
Transfers can be made provided there are no rent arrears.  A fee of £50 is payable unless it is a sensitive situation, i.e.: anti social behaviour. If there has been ASB the Scheme Manager will need to hold an interview.  Any transfers will not be considered until 1st November 2012.

Is there any welcome event?
Various providers with useful information will be on site during the main intake weekend. 

Do I get a reduction if I pay my accommodation fees in full?
Yes if you decide to pay your accommodation fees in full you will receive a discount of £175.

Does Trinity Square have internet access, if so how much?
Yes!  You get a basic internet access included in your weekly rent charge; there is a one off connection charge of £50.  You are also able to upgrade this service to receive IPTV for a small additional weekly charge and there will be faster connections available for those who wish to pay for it.

Do I need a guarantor?
Yes we do ask that all students have a guarantor, they need to be over 18 years of age, in full time employment or own their own house.

Will I need to apply for a TV License?
If you intend to watch the television then you will require a TV license – you will need to contact the TV license company to apply for one at www.tvlicensing.co.uk. We will provide the license that covers the TV in the lounge area.

I’ve heard that I don’t need to pay for Council Tax how do I go about this?
All students are exempt from paying Council Tax, to apply you will need to contact Nottingham City Council on 0115 915 5555.

What is the full postal address and post code for Trinity Square?
Depending on the block:  Your flat number (all) and room number (en-suites only), Shakespeare House, North Church Street, Nottingham NG1 4BR or Milton House, Trinity Square, Nottingham NG1 4AL

Where will my post be delivered to?
There are post boxes situated at the bottom of each block, this is where your post will be delivered to.  We do not accept parcels at reception.

Is there parking on site?
Unfortunately we do not have parking available with the accommodation; however there is a council run car park under the accommodation. 

Will my room be en suite?
All accommodation at Trinity Square is en-suite; you will only share your kitchen area with other students unless you opt for a studio in which case you share with no-one!

What should I bring?
You will need to bring your own bed linen, including duvet and pillow, also basics such as saucepans, cooking dishes, plates, bowls, cutlery and crockery.

Is there a laundry on site?
Yes there are laundry facilities on site.

What are the office opening hours?
Monday – Thursday 9am – 5pm
Friday – 9am – 4.30pm

Derwent staff are on site between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Is there any security on site?
Yes, apart from a secure card based locking system and CCTV we have security who will be on duty overnight and at weekends and Bank Holidays.

What if I want to leave the accommodation?
If students want to leave the accommodation but are still attending University they need to find a replacement – someone to take over their contract – otherwise they will be liable for the remaining fees. If the scheme is tied to a University this must be agreed with them. 

Can I stay over the summer?
All schemes can have summer stayers.  This may be at a reduced weekly cost – contact site for more details.  Only students who have previously lived on site or are due to arrive in September can stay over the summer.  Summer stay payments must be paid in advance of the stay period.
