Can I visit Derwent Point before deciding to book?

Yes, viewing on Derwent Point are available please contact derwentpoint@derwentliving.com or 020 7427 2323 to arrange a viewing.

What is the rental period and can I move in early?

All contracts are for 51 weeks.

Contracts start on 9th September 2012 until 1st September 2013.

What about insurance?

Contents insurance is included in your rent, insurance is provided by Endsleigh Insurance www.endsleigh.co.uk/reviewcover

When do I pay for my room?

The payment schedule is as follows:

1. £350 refundable deposit payable upon acceptance of offer along with an advance rent payment of £650 (£1,000 total)

2. This is followed by 3 installments to pay the remainder of the rent. These payments are made in October, January and April.

Every time you use your credit card on our website, the credit card company charges Derwent Living a fee. Unfortunately this means we have to raise a surcharge of 1.5% to cover the cost, This surcharge will be added to your deposit and accommodation costs at the time of payment. If you wish to avoid the surcharge then please use a debit card

Is there internet access?

Yes, the internet is included in your rent. With a one off connection fee of £50.00.  The average speed of the internet is 4Mb, however you can increase your speed, at an extra cost, through our internet provider.

Will I have to pay for extras?

Heating, lighting and all utilities costs are included in the rent at Derwent Point, ensuring you peace of mind during your time in Halls. 

Broadband internet access is also included in your rent with a one off connection fee.

The launderettes are coin operated (£2.50 per wash and £1.00 per dry).

Bedding - we can provide bedding packs (Duvet and Cover, pillows and cases, fitted sheet) £30.00 (payable on arrival) there are a limited amount available so please contact us if you wish to purchase one of these, alternatively you can bring your own.

Students will be expected to bring bath towels, tea towels, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans and all kitchen utensils.  Kettles are provided in each studio.

Where can I chill out at Derwent Point?

At Derwent Point you can relax with fellow students in the large common room, which is also great for group study.

Can I stay at Derwent Point outside term time?

The licence period for Derwent Point is for a 51 week tenure and is therefore inclusive of the main holiday periods. 

Is there a phone line in each studio?

No, there are no telephone lines in the studios although Skype will be accessible on your computer if you choose to download this

Are there ironing Facilities?

There are communal irons/boards on each floor

Are fridges provided?  

Yes

Can you adjust the heating temperature in each studio?

Yes, the temperature can be adjusted through the radiator in each studio.

Are there any supermarkets close by?

Yes, there are a variety of supermarkets:

Sainsburys and Waitrose are located in the N1 shopping centre
Sainsburys local is located on Upper Street
Marks and Spencer is located on Liverpool Road
Tesco Metro is located on Islington Green

Where are the nearest banks?

These are located on Upper Street, the following banks are available, RBS, Natwest, Nationwide, Lloyds and Barclays.
