Faq at Lynden House
Over the years we have compiled a list of useful information which may help you during your stay with Derwent Living.
Where is the…?
Police Station? The nearest police station is on little Park Street in the town centre.
Post Office? There is a post office at the train station, which is approximately five minutes walk away along Warwick Road.
Town Centre/Market Place? The main city centre is approximately ten minutes walk away from Lynden House if you turn right out of Lynden House to the traffic lights, turn right and follow the road to the subway then follow signs into town straight ahead. An alternative is Earlsdon High Street (shops, banks, restaurants, wine bars and hair dressers), turn left out of Lynden House follow the road to the first left turn to the end, then turn left, follow the road to traffic island and you will see the High Street ahead.
University? The University is situated in and around the City. It is within walking distance of Lynden House and there are buses that run regularly.
Cinema? There is a massive entertainment complex called Skydome in the city centre which also includes ice skating and restaurants and a nightclub.
Railway station? The railway station is about a five minute walk away, left down Warwick Road.
When is the market? There is an indoor market selling fresh fruit and veg and the like called the Coventry indoor market which is also in the city centre.
Nearest supermarket? The nearest supermarkets are located in the city centre. Iceland, Co-Op and Sainsburys are all there.
When do I have to pay my rent? The University delivers a statement once a term generally about three weeks into the term, for it to be paid by the end of the following week or they receive a 10% surcharge.
Dentists and doctors? All students need to register at the University Medical Centre, which is on the university campus. There is a dentist about two houses down from Lynden House which is private. However the medical centre can provide you with details on NHS registered dentists if you speak to them.
Banks? There are banks located in Earlsdon High Street and also in the High Street in the town centre.
Bus Stop? There is a bus stop just outside of Lynden House, which has routes that will take you into the city centre, and to the bus station, where you can obviously get buses to anywhere else you may want to go.
