Q - How close is the university?
A - The University of Sheffield is a 10 minute walk; and the tram stops near both Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield. There is a tram stop outside the building.

Q - How far is the city centre?
A - A 15 minute walk or 5 minutes on the tram.

Q - Where is the nearest supermarket?
A - Tesco on Infirmary Road, just 2 minutes' walk.

Q - Is there a medical centre nearby?
A - There's a medical centre 10-15 minutes' walk away on Broad Lane.

Q - Where is the nearest cashpoint?
A - At the local Tesco.

Q - Where is the nearest police station?
A - A 10 minute walk away.

Q - Where is the nearest post office?
A - A 10-15 minute walk away on West Street. 

Q - Where is the nearest gym?
A - There is a Momentum Gym nearby.

Q - How far are the bus/train stations?
A - The Shalesmoor tram stop is just outside the building. The blue service takes 10 minutes to get to the train and bus stations.

Q - Where's the nearest bus stop?
A - A minute away. There are a lot of services that go to the city centre.

Q - What's in my room?
A - Your room is fully furnished with: bed (single in a Standard, 3/4 in a Standard Plus, double in Deluxe and Studios), desk, chair, wardrobe, chest of drawers and noticeboard.

Q - What is included in the kitchen?
A - Kitchens come equipped with: cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, mop and bucket and vacuum cleaner. You will need to provide your own crockery and cooking utensils. Starter packs are available to pre-order before you arrive - see our homepage.

Q - Who cleans my flat?
A - You are responsible for cleaning your room and for cleaning your communal areas with your flatmates.

Q - Can I bring a pet?
A - Sorry, pets are not permitted on any Derwent Students properties.

Q - Where can I do my laundry?
A - There is an on-site laundry room with both washing and drying facilities. A wash is £2.50 and a dry is £1.

Q - Can I personalise my room?
A - A large pin board is provided in the bedroom for posters. We ask that you don't put posters on your walls as any damage caused will be chargeable.

Q - Can I have guests to stay?
A - Guests are permitted for a maximum of 2 nights in any week. Please sign them in at reception on arrival.

Q - Can I bring my car?
A - There are limited spaces in our underground car park allocated on a first-come first-served basis. There is a charge of £17.50 a week for this facility.

Q - Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
A - There are a number of external bike rails located in the courtyards.

Q - Where do I collect my post from?
A - Reception accept parcels for students living at Sheffield 3. You will receive a slip in your post box to notify you, which should be brought to reception with photo ID. Parcels larger than 30cm x 40cm x 50cm or heavier than 15kg won't be accepted. Letters are delivered to post boxes.

Q - How do I report maintenance issues?
A - You can visit reception to inform us of the issue. Our maintenance staff will fix the issue, or refer it to an external contractor if necessary.

Q - Can I change my room?
A - If there is any availability you may be able to transfer rooms. A charge may be incurred.

Q - Do I need to have a TV Licence?
A - You will need to purchase a TV licence if you wish to watch or stream live TV in your flat. This can be shared with flatmates.

Q - What events do you arrange on the site?
A - We arrange several events throughout the year, which are well publicised in the blocks.

Q - What facilities are there on site?
A - Common room with seating, pool table, table tennis, vending machine and 60" TV with Sky and Wii console.

Q - Can I store my possessions in the summer?
A - Unfortunately we are unable to store possessions, but we will be happy to provide information on shipping and storage companies.

Q - Can I book for summer?
A - We offer summer contracts subject to availability. Please contact the team to find out more.

Q - Can I arrive early?
A - Please contact the site team to check whether your room will be vacated and cleaned by the time you want to arrive. There will be an extra charge for early arrivals.

Q - What about safety and security on site?
A - There are staff on the site 24 hours a day, including security guards outside of office hours. There is CCTV throughout, and the site is key-fob access only.

Sheffield has to be one of the UK’s most modern cities and is renowned for its friendly people and, once famous for its steel production, is now massively modern following a dramatic makeover. Its industrial wasteland is being swept away and replaced with business centres, retail developments and fashionable city living. With two universities in Sheffield, an estimated 45,000 students flock to its two universities every year, making it a very lively city for nightlife.

The shopping is of a very high standard here too with designer boutiques and department stores aplenty. The Moor Precinct, Fargate, Orchard Square and the Devonshire Quarter are the most well known names. Enormous Meadow Hall offers an abundance of shops where you’ll find everything from that little black dress to blue suede shoes and, for more leisurely mooching, Ecclesall Road is a mile-long stretch of fashion boutiques and up-market stores. Sheffield has two major theatres – the Lyceum Theatre and the Crucible, which together with the smaller studio make up the largest theatre complex outside London. The Showroom is Sheffield’s independent four screen cinema situated in the heart of the Cultural Industries Quarter, one of the biggest in the UK. There are also some beautiful gardens located in the city, The Sheffield Winter Gardens, the Peace Gardens and the Botanical Gardens.

Sheffield 3 is a modern complex located 10 minutes from the University of Sheffield’s main campuses. The site has a mix of stylish cluster flats and self-contained studio apartments which are fully-furnished, with en-suite bathrooms.

Each cluster flat has a well-equipped shared kitchen and living area with a plasma TV. There are also smart studio rooms available for single or double occupancy, for those wanting extra space.

The common room hosts a variety of events during the year and is equipped with Sky TV. There are easy transport links, with tram and bus services into the city centre right on your doorstep. All rents come all-inclusive including contents insurance and FREE 30MB WIFI as of September 2014.
