We understand that you may have a lot of questions before moving into your new room.
Below is a list of FAQ's to help answer any questions you may have.

I'm an International student, do I need a UK Guarantor to book?
If you choose to pay termly, you are required to supply a UK guarantor who will guarantee to make your instalment payments if you are unable to. The Guarantor must be living in the UK, be in full-time employment or a homeowner. If you choose to pay your year's rent in full, you do not require a UK guarantor.
Do I have contents insurance?
Yes! As standard, all Derwent's students are automatically covered by the #1 Student insurer, Endsleigh. However this cover may not be sufficient for your needs, for example if you have expensive computers and smart phones so we strongly recommend you review your policy and upgrade your cover if you feel you need it. How close is the university?
A 10-15 minute walk.
How far is the town centre?
A 5 minute walk.
Where is the nearest supermarket?
There are a Tesco and a Lidl around a 10 minute walk away; and Sainsbury's, Aldi and Asda are around a 15
Is there a medical centre nearby?
There is a medical centre at Glyndwr University, and another one a 5 minute walk from the site.
Where is the nearest cashpoint?
A 1 minute walk away, at the top of Vicarage Hill.
Where is the nearest police station?
A 15 minute walk away.
Where is the nearest post office?
Just around the corner on Town Hill.
Where is the nearest gym?
There are several gyms, within a 5-10 minute walk away.
How far are the bus/train stations?
The bus station is a 5 minute walk away, and the train station is around a 10 minute walk.

What's in my room?
Your room is fully furnished with: bed, bedside table, desk, chair, wardrobe and noticeboard. Most rooms are fitted with shelves.
What is included in the kitchen?
Kitchens come equipped with: cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and iron. You will need to
provide your own crockery and cooking utensils. Starter packs are available to pre-order before you arrive - see our homepage.
Who cleans my flat?
You are responsible for cleaning your room and for cleaning your communal areas with your flatmates.
Can I bring a pet?
Sorry, pets are not permitted on any Derwent Students properties.
Where can I do my laundry?
There are laundry facilities on site.
Can I personalise my room?
You can personalise your room using accessories and bedding, which you need to provide yourself. We ask
that you don't put posters on your walls as any damage caused will be chargeable.
Can I have guests to stay?
Overnight guests are only permitted to stay in the double and deluxe rooms for a maximum of 2 nights. Unfortunately guests are not permitted in any of the single rooms.
Can I bring my car?
There is limited parking available, and a fee is applicable.
Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
Yes, there are bike racks near the laundry.
Where do I collect my post from?
Post is delivered to your room. Larger parcels are delivered to reception. We will inform you if you have any
parcels and these can be collected at your convenience.
How do I report maintenance issues?
We now have our very own Repair app. Download the ‘Main Manager’ app onto your smart phone or tablet and then get the site code from Reception. Enter the code into the app and then you can log any problems you’re having with your accommodation.
Can I change my room?
In some cases it may be possible, subject to availability. A £50 fee will be applicable. Please contact the site
manager for more information.
Do I need to have a TV Licence?
You will need to purchase a TV licence if you wish to watch or stream live TV in your flat
What events do you arrange on the site?
We arrange several events throughout the year, which will be advertised on site
What facilities are there on site?
Laundry; car parking; bike racks.
Can I store my possessions in the summer?
Please talk to the site manager directly if you have questions regarding storage.
Can I book for summer?
Yes you can stay over summer. Please contact the site manager to discuss your requirements.
Can I arrive early?
Please contact the site team to check whether your room will be vacated and cleaned by the time you want to
arrive. There will be an extra charge for early arrivals.
What about safety and security on site?
We operate a secure swipe card system for entry onto the site and into the building. There is CCTV
monitoring and 24 hour security. The site has gated access.
