Do I Have Contents Insurance?
Yes! As standard, all Derwent's students are automatically covered by the #1 Student insurer, Endsleigh. However this cover may not be sufficient for your needs, for example if you have expensive computers and smart phones so we strongly recommend you review your policy and upgrade your cover if you feel you need it. How Far is the City Centre?
Liverpool city centre is just a 5 minute walk away.
Where is the nearest supermarket?
There is a Tesco Express only a minute walk away over London Road.
Is there a medical centre nearby?
Apollo Court's proximity to the Liverpool University campus means that it is close to the healthcare and welfare facilities provided by the university.
Where is the nearest cashpoint?
There is a Barclays Bank, 11 minutes away by foot.
Where is the nearest post office?
The Monument Place Post Office is a 2 minute walk, across London Road.
Where is the nearest gym?
As a Student of LJMU, you'll have access to Lifestyle gyms across the city. Alternativley, the University of Liverpool has a large sports and exercise facility.
How far are the bus/train stations?
Liverpool Lime Street Station is a 5 minute walk away.
Where's the nearest bus stop?
There are bus stops on Lime street which have routes all around the city.
What's in my room?
Our En Suite rooms offer single beds, with storage space and a desk area. You'll have your own shower room with a toilet and sink, and you will have shared kitchen facilities. Our studios offer larger beds and more room, with kitchen facilities included in your studio.
What is included in the kitchen?
In the kitchens we provide a kettle, toaster, microwave, and all the usual appliances such as a fridge freezer, an oven and hob.
Who cleans my flat?
We have housekeepers who will perform a kitchen clean every 2 weeks for the students – this is the appliances and work surfaces. The students still need to do their dishes as usual.
Can I bring a pet?
Sorry, pets are not permitted on any Derwent Students properties.
Where can I do Laundry?
There is an onsite laundry which is operated by Circuit Laundry, they have an app which students can download to use the machines.
Can I personalise my room?
The rooms cannot be personalised much but we do allow posters for example – just nothing that would damage the room in any way.
Can I have guests to stay?
Guests can stay but only for a maximum of two nights per week and if flat mates are OK with this. Guests must sign in at reception during their stay.
Can I bring my car?
We unfortunately do not have any parking facilities at Apollo Court.
Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
We do have a bike storage room for any students that wish to bring one.
where do I collect my post from?
Post – we have post boxes for any letters that arrive (one per flat) and any parcels that arrive will be kept at reception in safe storage until they are collected.
How do I report maintenance issues?
We now have our very own Repair app. Download the ‘Main Manager’ app onto your smart phone or tablet and then get the site code from Reception. Enter the code into the app and then you can log any problems you’re having with your accommodation.
Can I change my room?
Rooms can be changed but ideally we like to get it right first time in terms of where a student lives so that they and ourselves do not need to change their room, however it is possible in certain circumstances.
Do I need to have a TV licence?
A TV licence is required by law if students have a device which they use to watch TV on.
What events do you arrange on the site?
We hold various events throughout the year but at the moment we do not have any firm plans in place for what these may be or when, although it is highly likely we will try to arrange some soon.
What facilities are there on site?
We have some vending machines on site (Ben and Jerrys, Fizzy drinks, crisps, snacks etc)
Can I store my possessions in the summer?
In the summer I am not sure currently what the setup will be in terms of storage as this has not been confirmed. It may be that students would have to pay for this although as mentioned nothing has been set in stone regarding that yet.
Can I book for summer?
I imagine students should be able to book for summer but again this depends on company plans for the summer time here which again are not confirmed currently.
