Denton Holme Student Village is a fantastic development located in Carlisle, famous for its status as a Roman settlement, established to serve the forts on Hadrian’s Wall and the once prison for Mary Queen of Scots.  

Denton Holme consists of 25 stylish town houses which accommodation either 9 or 12 students. Every house has two or three upper floors with four bedrooms and two shower rooms on each.

One en-suite room is available in each 9 bedroom house. Each bedroom comes with 3/4 bed with under bed storage, wardrobe with full length mirror, study desk and  chair, drawers, bed side table, mesh bin and shelving unit above desk.

The communal areas have a fully fitted kitchen and living area comes with sofas and dining table with chairs ideal for socialising with your flat mates. The site is on a direct bus route to Brampton Road Campus and only a 20 minute walk from the Fusehill Street Campus, making it a perfect location.

The accommodation will also soon see an upgrade to 100mb of internet and enhanced WiFi, which is available throughout the building.

Carlisle today is the main cultural, commercial and industrial centre for north Cumbria. It is home to the main campuses of the University of Cumbria and a variety of museums and heritage centres.

How close is the university?
Fusehill Street Campus is a 20 minute walk away; Brampton Road Campus is a 30 minute walk. There are buses to both.
Do I have contents insurance
Yes! As standard, all Derwent's students are automatically covered by the #1 Student insurer, Endsleigh. However this cover may not be sufficient for your needs, for example if you have expensive computers and smart phones so we strongly recommend you review your policy and upgrade your cover if you feel you need it. How far is the city centre?
A 15 minute walk.
Where is the nearest supermarket?
There is an Aldi Store on top of Dalston Road which is 10-15 min walk
Is there a medical centre nearby?
The A&E is around 1 miles away, and can be reached by bus.
Where is the nearest cashpoint?
At the Cumberland Building Society on Denton Street, less than 5 minutes' walk.
Where is the nearest police station?
A 15 minute walk away.
Where is the nearest post office?
A 10-15 minute walk away above WH Smith in the town centre.
Where is the nearest gym?
There is a gym nearby.
How far are the bus/train stations?
The bus station is about 20 minutes' walk away, and the train station is about 15 minutes' walk away in town.
Where's the nearest bus stop?
The bus to town stops directly outside the site.
What's in my room?
Your room is fully furnished with: a 3/4 bed (with underbed storage), bedside table, desk, chair, wardrobe, shelving, three drawer lockable unit and two noticeboards.
What is included in the kitchen?
Kitchens come equipped with: cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, mop and bucket, and vacuum cleaner. You will need to provide your own crockery and cooking utensils. Starter packs are available to pre-order before you arrive - see our homepage.
Who cleans my flat?
You are responsible for cleaning your room and for cleaning your communal areas with your flatmates. Approximately every 5 weeks our cleaning team will deep clean every house, including extractor hoods, shower rooms, fridges, skirting boards etc.
Can I bring a pet?
Sorry, pets are not permitted on any Derwent Students properties.
Where can I do my laundry?
There is an on-site laundry room that is accessible 24 hours a day.
Can I personalise my room?
A large pin board is provided in the bedroom for posters. We ask that you don't attach anything to your walls or ceilings as any damage caused will be chargeable.
Can I have guests to stay?
Guests are permitted for a maximum of 2 nights in any week. Please sign them in at reception on arrival.
Can I bring my car?
We have parking spaces which are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. The cost is £100 per term but there is a discount if you pay your whole year upfront (£275).
Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
We have three secure bike stores on the site.
Where do I collect my post from?
Each house has a letter box with its own key. We can accept parcels at The Hub for you, but we ask that you let us know if you are expecting something.
How do I report maintenance issues?
You can visit reception to inform us of the issue. You will be given a number to ring for emergency repairs out of hours.
Can I change my room?
You can request to move, but this will depend on availability. Please note that there is a £50 admin fee for each person who is moving to a new room.
Do I need to have a TV Licence?
You will need to purchase a TV licence if you wish to watch or stream live TV in your flat. This can be shared with flatmates.
What events do you arrange on the site?
We have a Get To Know You event in October/November, a student day out to Blackpool in March, an Easter Egg hunt at Easter and a sports day and BBQ in May.
What facilities are there on site?
Secure bike storage, laundrette, and on-site parking.
Can I store my possessions in the summer?
We can store things depending on circumstances. There is a £50 charge for storage.
Can I book for summer?
Yes, we can take summer bookings depending on availability. Rent for the summer period must be paid before the end of the academic year and before the summer stay commences. Please see the team for more information.
Can I arrive early?
Please contact the site team to check whether your room will be vacated and cleaned by the time you want to arrive. There will be an extra charge for early arrivals.
What about safety and security on site?
We have an on-site security guard 3 nights a week. The site is covered by CCTV.
